I don't know about anyone else, but June flew by! And the fact that we've had some rain and less than 100 degree heat is pretty amazing. Another thing that was amazing was our VBS! Thanks to all who came and super thanks to all the volunteers! Check out our VBS page to see the slide show!
So, now we are into July and what are we doing to keep our kiddos busy? Well, of course we have plans for Wednesday, July 4th. Whether you are cooking out with family, going to the lake or hanging out at the George Bush Presidential Library & Museum for the fireworks, I am sure it will be a fun day for all. I hope many of you have the day off and can enjoy a full day of family and fun!
While celebrating our freedoms, we must also remember that we are in the midst of losing some. Take some time to help your older children understand what the Supreme Court's decision means for us as Americans and as Catholics. If you aren't sure yourself, then please read up on it at the USCCB website. It is important to keep fighting this unjust law, to keep writing and calling our Congressmen and women, voting for candidates who will repeal the law and above all praying for those men and women to have the courage to do the right thing, regardless of it's popularity or if it damages their progress to power. The devil has had a victory, but we know that Heaven prevails in the end. We have that hope. Do not let it die.
July has a host of saints' feast days to celebrate. Let's see if we can learn about one more saint this month. Saint of the Day is a great resource to tap into, you can get the message emailed right to you on a daily basis, or you can sign up for the RSS feed, or you can just go when you want to know who's feast day it is today.
Upcoming Saints' Days:
3rd: St. Thomas
5th: St. Elizabeth of Portugal
6th: St. Maria Goretti
11th: St. Benedict
14th: Bl. Kateri Tekakwitha
If you want more ideas of things to do with your kids, look at my previous post. It has some links to resource pages, too.
Keep cool and God's peace and blessings be on you all!
